In several opportunities I have talked to mothers who have expressed their concern, because her daughters or sons are very active, making very difficult to control them, and even in some cases they are having serious problems in their schools for not paying attention in classes. Hyper activism is a recurrent theme for scientific researches. Recent investigations demonstrate that children who snore, have double risk to develop a deficit disorder, or to be hyperactive. This theory makes a relation, of course, between sleep disorders directly with deficit disorder syndrome.
Even when studies do not specify which condition permits the other, researchers choose in favor of snoring, and other sleep disorders, as responsible for children who do not pay attention, or are hyperactive. This theory, if it could be proven, demonstrates why stimulants, as Ritalin, could be effective in children with deficit disorder, or hyper activism treatments.
If you are a mother with this kind of concern, watch your child when he sleeps, and if he snores, let his doctor know. Even when researches are not conclusive, they could be a good lead, to start the fight against the problem.
Note: Attention disorder is one of the most commons neurological and behaviour disorders. It affects 4 – 12% of school-age children.
